Don't let your gifts, your wild ideas, your passion and your love languish in your head space.
Thoughts on Visualisation and Manifestation
So recently I have been thinking about the process of meditation and focusing on visualising and manifesting your dreams and goals.
I read somewhere some time ago about the importance of ‘feeling into the experience’ of your goals. The importance of focusing on the desired outcome of what you hope to manifest from an emotional and sensory place. This stuck with me. I realised I was ‘all too much up in my head’ It seems obvious now as I learn and read and research and disappear down rabbit holes. As I soak up information and ideas, I pick them apart, disassemble them and put them back together in a way that makes sense to me. I have always understood that visualising and imagining your goals with a clear and detailed mind's eye was important. I also realised that you can’t just ‘magic up’ and manifest your dreams here on earth without actually physically doing anything about them. You must take steps toward them in a real material way. After all you are a light anchored to an earthly body, one that moves with five senses and a complex array of emotions. So it makes sense that you should feel and sense your way through your visualisations in order to manifest them on Terra firma. Ancient magic and ritual knew this. Altars, sacred objects, sigil’s and using the elements were, and still are, used to evoke a deeper more connected, emotive, tangible and believable experience. Building the power into it.
If you look at the five elements (Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Aether) and the five senses (touch, sound, smell, taste, sight) for example and think about the simple way you can use these as you meditate or visualise. Perhaps find ways to involve your senses in a personal way that helps to evoke the properties of the elements. Fire is passion and heat. Get excited about your goal. Sit in the feeling of why you want it. How it will feel and how you might experience it as a manifestation. Perhaps music that gets you happy and vibing away! Stare into an open flame. Earth is practical and physical. Move your arms, your hands as you visualise. Walk around the room while you are picturing your goal. Touch or smell dirt, a plant or sit on the ground, outside if you can. Water is emotion and intuition. We sit still and mindful of our bodies when meditating, praying or visualising to not only focus our minds but to listen and feel into the silence. This is where you hear and talk to your heart space. It's the part where patience and trust play an important role in manifestation. It is perhaps the most difficult of all especially if you are impatient and eager to have your dreams...like...right now! Sit your feet in a bucket of warm water. Wash your hands, drink water. Air is thought, communication and imagination. This I know for myself is what I have focused on too much in the past. Wanting something so much and over thinking can inadvertently block the materialisation process. Yes strong focus and detail are important but they alone are too ‘light’ too weightless. Remember you are a soul sent here, feet on the ground, to be, to do, your thing on earth. There's a gravity to that. Don't let your gifts, your wild ideas, your passion, or your love languish in your head space. Pull in the energies from the earthly world around you. Source, Spirit, God whatever you choose to call it speaks in frequency and vibration as do the very cellular structures of the earth. Tap into ‘all the feels’ of what you wish to see manifest in your life. Aether is light energy, the Akashic records. What an ‘idea’ is outside of the material world. That woo woo stuff that’s in between everything. It's what holds your dream while the other elements alchemise it.
Astrology! Only just scratching at the surface of it all, among my readings into tarot, numerology and energy systems like the chakras I have a newfound respect for astrologists and the layers of complexity in interpreting the heavenly bodies. Quite simply understanding your own astrology is understanding yourself both the dark and the light. Recognising how you best see and feel your way through the world only helps to strengthen your visualisation process. So I found myself looking at my own astrology and using it to refine my approach to meditation and other mindfulness practices.
For example I am a Taurus Sun, Gemini Rising, Pisces Moon. Taurus Jo loves order, calm, organisation and making lists. So my home space reflects this, well mostly until Gemini Jo turns up. She is the writer, the nervous energy with too many ideas gal. She works in fits and starts and burns out quickly. I need to write things down in a fast and almost illegible way that Taurus Jo has to clean up and make sense of later. When I visualise I have a crystal/stone in one hand that I am constantly moving around (bit like one of those fidget spinner things) I rub it and roll it over my fingers, it helps me focus. In the other hand is a pen to create scrappy diagrams, erratic thoughts, doodles and the like. Then there is Pisces Jo. She is a bit of a flake. If she could ride a unicorn and play with stars all day she would. She see’s energy and symbolism in things and so her (my) way of visualising my goals is highly emotive. I’ve realised that I don’t work from start to finish. In my head I jump around. The watery element of Pisces as my moon sign is why I might soak my feet. It's also why I focus on more imaginative, third eye and crown chakra work when there is a new or full moon. I can dream BIG but I need the practical skill set of Taurus to bring me back down to earth and get things done whilst the energy and confidence of Gemini helps me share and communicate the messages I receive.
Numerology! That funny number stuff. Again it's about energy and vibration. Find your numbers. Birth dates, birth path numbers, even name numbers (interesting when you read about nicknames and changing names for marital status) are powerful things but I believe it can be a very personal thing too. Perhaps its numbers you keep seeing and have been drawn to most of your life. Numbers that mark important moments that seem to pop up wherever you go. A numbers significance to you may also change with time. What served you energetically in your youth may not be what you ‘vibe’ with now? Double, triple numbers or mirrored numbers are considered especially potent eg. 33, 333, 13-31.
Unfortunately in our modern online world it can feel like there is a lot of expectation or pressure to do things in a certain way. Don’t misunderstand statements like ‘find your higher purpose’ Yes this is ideally what we are aiming for but there tends to be an assumption that higher means bigger! Your dreams and goals don't have to change the world. They start by changing your own world. Asking the universe and focusing on more love or friendship, or more money to help you build security and allow new opportunities to flow. They are stepping stones. The more you tune in the more your vibration changes. Your frequency shifts and you will find that your desires, by their very nature, begin to serve a higher purpose. They will inadvertently have a positive effect on the wider world.
I guess from my own experiences that tailoring your techniques for visualisation is what’s important. Yes discipline is necessary if you have a restless mind or have difficulty ‘seeing’ things clearly. You do need to train yourself to be still and how to listen to your body to a certain extent but I also think it's ok to acknowledge your limitations. You may be that person who can sit cross legged on a mountain for 6 hours in deep reflection or you may be that person who needs to have music playing and their body moving and can only focus for short bursts of time.
Find your style, feel your style and remember:
‘You are beings of light
Listen in and speak out; the messages of Earth's God Mouth’
